August is here, which means it's time to welcome all the students who will soon take over the streets of Jönköping. Welcome back to all returning students, but a special welcome to those of you who are coming to Jönköping University for the first time!
If you're coming to Jönköping for the first time, you likely have many questions about student life. We've put together a magazine where you can find plenty of useful information about the upcoming semester, as well as information about us at the Jönköping Student Union and how we can support you during your studies. If you don't find your answer in the magazine, you can always contact us at the Student Union.
Below you will also find useful links for the start of the semester.
_________
Information about the start of the semester as well as the Kick Off and Kick Off Festival can be found in the magazine above, but you will also receive information once you are here in Jönköping.
_________
During the entire Kick Off, about 700 fadders and volunteers who have been trained in leadership and first aid will be working to ensure that all new students feel safe and included in all arranged activities. Additionally, there will be representatives from JU on site so that there is always someone to turn to.
Akademien, the Kick Off, and the Kick Off Festival are, just like in previous years, IQ-certified, which is proof that the Jönköping Student Union together with Jönköping University is working to reduce alcohol consumption among students. At Akademien Nightclub, the student nightclub in Jönköping, there are always non-alcoholic options available, and you can get soda and water completely free of charge.
Below you will find useful information for new students before the start of the semester.
The Student Union does not own any student apartments and therefore cannot assist individual students in finding accommodation. We work on this issue at a political level and can only provide tips and advice to students regarding housing in Jönköping. Please visit our housing guide for more information.
For questions regarding JU's student housing, please contact JU's Housing Office (this applies to international students who have applied for an apartment through the housing guarantee).
As a student, you can pay your membership fee once you are enrolled in your courses. You can register one week before the course starts. As a student at JU, membership in the Student Union is mandatory, which means you must pay your Student Union fee to pursue your studies. This ensures that the studies maintain a high level, that you always have someone to turn to if problems arise, and that you can enjoy a rich student life. If you want to know more about where the student union fee goes, you can read more here.
The mandatory Student Union fee does not apply to tuition paying students.
There are many associations and project groups you can join on campus. You can find the Student Union's associations here on our website. If you don't find an association that suits you, you can start a new one. Come up to us at the Student Union, and we can discuss your ideas!
For questions about admission, contact JU's Admissions Office, and for questions about the roll call, please contact JU's Service Center.
